An anonymous donor donated $50,000 to the Stafford County (VA) Sheriff’s Office to offer as a reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the person who murdered Samih Mustafa Sowan on March 1, 2011 on Fife Street.

Sowan had been renting an apartment at the Fife Street address and was the owner of the Subway on Walpole Street in Stafford County.

“Mr. Sowan was known to frequent the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore City areas,” said Stafford County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bill Kennedy. “Detectives investigating this case are hoping that the $50,000 reward will help motivate people who may have information that will help solve this brutal murder.  This continues to be an ongoing investigation.”

At 7:35 p.m. on March 1, 2011, Stafford deputies responded to the Fife Street home met an occupant of the house who told them that his renter in the basement had been shot and was unresponsive. The resident said he thought he had heard gunshots coming from the basement. When the resident entered the basement he found Sowan on the floor suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Witnesses in the neighborhood told deputies that they saw two black males running from the basement apartment and getting into a four-door, light-colored small or mid-size sedan. The vehicle was last seen leaving the area by Courthouse Road in Stafford County.
