VIRGINIA BEACH–For over seven years, Shellie Carson’s family has waited for the day someone would be charged with her murder.

The 18-year-old was killed in 2005 and her body left not far from her home in the Kings Grant neighborhood.  Her bicycle was nearby.

Police said she was riding home from a 7-11 early on the morning of August 14. 2005 when she was beaten to death.  Her body was found just after 6:00 a.m. and investigators believe she was killed between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.

“The viciousness of the crime is most on my mind. The poor girl was brutally murdered. About four hours after Shellie’s body was discovered we identified Shellie by describing the shoes that she was wearing. We also provided photos, but she was unrecognizable. The police and media identified our daughter as the ‘dead woman’ all day long on Sunday; this broke my heart.”
says her Dad Bill Carson.

A bench still sits in the traffic circle not far from where Shellie was found. A plaque reads “In loving memory of Shellie Carson whose life was senselessly taken on August 14, 2005.”

There’s a $40,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest/conviction of her killer.
