GREENSBORO, N.C. — Harris Teeter announced recently that it has increased a reward the grocery chain is offering for information about suspects responsible for a string of store robberies by 50 percent.
Harris Teeter officials in May announced they would give $50,000 to anyone who could provide authorities with information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible for the spree of armed robberies, which prompted store hour changes at several locations across North Carolina.
On Tuesday, store officials announced the reward has been increased to $75,000. Crimestoppers is also offering its own reward of up to $2,000.
The suspects targeted numerous stores across Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem and Charlotte.
Gunshots were fired during the last robbery, which was reported in Charlotte on May 30, 2012 though there were no serious injuries.
The robberies also prompted Harris Teeter officials to implement extra security personnel in many of its stores.
