FBI Special Agent in Charge Kimberly K. Mertz announced on July 10, 2012 a reward of $50,000 offered by the FBI for information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of a group of serial armed bank robbers. In addition to the reward offered by the FBI, the five victimized banks are each offering rewards of up to $10,000.
The FBI; Connecticut State Police; and Fairfield, Orange, Cromwell, and Wallingford Police Departments, with the assistance of the Connecticut Bankers Reward Association, are investigating a group of armed bank robbers believed to be responsible for the following robberies:
Fairfield County Bank, Fairfield, Connecticut, September 24, 2010
New Alliance Bank (now First Niagara Bank), Orange, Connecticut, December 28, 2010
Naugatuck Savings Bank, Southbury, Connecticut, April 20, 2011
Webster Bank, Cromwell, Connecticut, October 7, 2011
Connex Credit Union, Wallingford, Connecticut, April 19, 2012
Between three and five armed males wearing work clothes and dark masks have entered the victim banks and subdued the patrons and tellers at gunpoint. The robbers then ransack the teller drawers before escaping. The robbers have displayed handguns in each of the robberies.
A white Cadillac Deville, model year 2000 to 2002, was seen in the area of the Webster Bank robbery in Cromwell and is considered of interest to the investigation.
