On July 5, 2004, Estelle Richardson, 34, a female prisoner at the CCA-run Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility in Nashville, was found unresponsive in a segregation cell. She was declared dead that same day at a local hospital. An autopsy conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s office found she had a fractured skull, four broken ribs and a damaged liver. Her death was ruled a homicide.
The day before she died, Estelle had been forcibly removed from her cell by four CCA officers.
When investigators arrived at the CCA-Metro facility they asked to see the videotape of Estelle’s cell extraction the day before her death. According to the Attorney General’s office, the investigators were told by CCA staff that the video camera had “malfunctioned,” and no video was available. Yet when an investigator asked to see the camera and inspected it, it appeared to be in working order.
In Sept. 2005, four CCA officers – Jeremy N. Neese, Keith A. Hendricks, Joshua D. Schockman and William Wood – were indicted on charges of reckless homicide and aggravated assault in connection with Estelle’s death. The charges were eventually dismissed in May 2007, largely because the timing of Estelle’s fatal injury could not be accurately determined. A fifth CCA officer, Shirley M. Foster, who had allegedly injured Estelle three days prior to her death, was not charged.
The question remains: Who killed Estelle Richardson, and what happened to the videotape, if any existed, of her forcible cell extraction the day before she died? Her murder remains unsolved.

Am I missing something here? Shirley Foster injured her first. Then four guards used force to remove her from her cell assuming to the segregation cell, she then was later found unresponsive.. charges were dropped and Shirley wad never charged. Because they say they. Couldn’t pinpoint the time of the fatal injury. 1st why wasn’t Shirley charged and how. Come everybody involved wasn’t charged including everyone that hid or lied about the tapes and cameras not working. If me and the person reading this right now were together, I hit someone in the head, the person reading (you) this came behind me and stomped that same person in the. Head so that person could not attack me back and that person died we would both be charged and the person waiting for us outside would be charged too if they tried to cover or lie for us. This is the justice system we have huh. Well there is no justice behind this. Straight b.s
And you have the audacity to put up a reward for the missing tape or proof of the. Person or persons responsible. If the authorities can’t find it then how is someone else. The proof is there. And that 35000 needs to be spent on resources to pull up a view from another angle. This irks me because the inmates are probably going to remain silent for fear of retaliation. The workers wont either for the same reason or because they have each others. Back. The system is so wack and jacked up that if a worker did come forward. And expected to stay there. Tue other jailors would set up or allow. Inmates to attack and kill that person. As payback. . And the jails and law enforcement are no better than street. Gangs. They just have a title that allows. Them to get away with it. If this was my mother. Or child I wouldn’t. Let this go without anything less than justice really being served
