SHE’S 83, BLACK AND MISSING
1-12-13 Update: NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – Detectives have determined that a body discovered Friday afternoon in the Love Grove community is that of an 83-year-old woman who disappeared in November.
Alma Lawson’s remains were found one mile from where she went missing in November.
The conclusion of the body’s identity was based on the age, sex, race and height of the body found, along with clothing and other personal items found at the scene, according to Wilmington police.
An autopsy proved that the cause of death was an accidental drowning.

5-22-12 Update: Rocky Mount, N.C. — Rocky Mount police announced Tuesday that a man wanted on murder charges in the city was arrested in Baltimore. Royal Rakem Williams is accused of shooting and killing another man during a fight at the Night Life Bar and Grill last September.
He also faces charges of possession of a handgun, discharging a firearm in city limits, being in a nightclub as a minor and carrying a weapon into a place where alcohol is sold.

Rocky Mount, N.C. — Rocky Mount Crime Stoppers has increased a reward for information leading to the arrest of a teen accused of shooting and killing a man during a bar fight.
Crime Stoppers is now offering a $2,500 cash reward for the arrest of Royal Rakem Williams, 17, who faces a charge of first-degree murder in the Sept. 30, 2012 death of Ryan Craig Bobbitt, 24.

11-30-12 Update: Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with the murder of Barbara E. Preidt, 76, of Shelbyville, IN, that occurred at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Cherokee on Sept. 30. The Cherokee Indian Police Department and the N.C. SBI obtained and served a search warrant for a residence at Olivet Church Road in Cherokee.
Three people were arrested on Thursday, Nov. 29 including: George Nobles, 36; Ashlyn Carothers, 20; and Dwayne Edward Swayney, 43; all three residing in Cherokee.

She was the victim of an apparent robbery and homicide on Sunday, Sept. 30 around 10pm at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, located at 568 Paint Town Rd. on the Cherokee (NC) Indian Reservation.  90 Year Old Goldie Hall

Update 9-24-12 Update: Sadly, the body of Goldie Hall has been found, and her great niece has been arrested.
Rhonda Williams Hagan, 30, of Nine Foot Road in Newport has been charged in the death of Goldie Hall, Carteret County Captain Jason told CrimePAY$.
Goldie’s body was found in a wooded area in Carteret County behind a flea mall in Newport.
Investigators believe that Hagan committed the murder on Sept. 20, the same day Hall’s home caught fire. Officials have not yet said if the fire is specifically connected to Hagan’s alleged crime.

 Ruzie Suggs Age 90

10-6-12 Update: The body of a 90-year-old Burlington woman missing since last month was discovered by hunters in Halifax County, Va. early Saturday.
Authorities say that the remains of a woman believed to be Ruzie Suggs, who had been missing since Sept. 8, were found near her 2005 Cadillac Deville in a rural area near Clarksville, Va.
A release from Burlington police said hunters first found her car, with the distinctive personalized tag, “Ruzie1,” off of a rural road in Halifax County.
The remains are being sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond, Va., for positive identification and examination.
Her dog, named “Pierre,” was also found nearby Saturday. The dog was alive and is being cared for by Halifax County Animal Control until it can be claimed by the family.
No criminal activity was involved.
