4-26-13 Update: Ralph Perez Martinez was watching television with his ex-wife when a news report mentioned a $10,000 reward for information about a Indiana businesswoman found shot to death at the Majestic Star Casino.

“Is that all I’m worth?” he said, according to authorities. The next day, the ex-wife called police and turned him in for the murder of Mary C. Austgen, 76, in March. Martinez, 57, was charged with murder, robbery and criminal confinement.


GRIFFITH, IN | The son of a homicide victim made an emotional plea recently for the public to provide more information about the kidnapping and slaying of his mother.

“Someone out there knows who did this,” Jeff Austgen said in a news conference at the Griffith Police Department.

8-10-12 Update:  The family of homicide victim Kelly Armstrong said media attention prompted Indiana prosecutors to upgrade charges against boyfriend Travis Funke from manslaughter to murder.

“We honestly think that the DA would not have done this if it was not for the national attention brought by The Huffington Post and local efforts by CrimePAY$. We just don’t think he would have done it,” said Armstrong’s cousin, Charity Grable.

Prosecutor Mark McCann filed the murder charge against 34-year-old Funke on Friday afternoon.


The family of a murdered Kokomo woman is offering a cash reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the discovery of her body.

A 7-year-old girl died after she and her father were shot during an apparent home invasion in Elkhart Friday, August 17, 2012.

Around 10:45 Friday night, police were called to the family’s home in the 700 block of Kilbourn Street on the city’s west side.

The parents of missing Indiana University student Lauren Spierer are now offering a $250,000 reward for information leading to the return of their daughter.

Robert and Charlene Spierer issued a statement through the News on Lauren S blog Friday afternoon confirming the reward for finding Lauren has increased to $250,000, thanks to a donation.

“Anyone with information, that leads us to our daughter, will be eligible to receive the reward,” the Spierers stated. “All information submitted that has a direct impact relative to finding Lauren will be evaluated. Information that is deemed credible and helps result in the resolution of this case will be awarded to the appropriate individuals from the total reward amount of $250,000.00.

We remain dedicated to finding our daughter.”

A local family hopes a $10,000 reward turns up the heat on a cold murder case. Her relatives and investigators believe witnesses now have thousands of reasons to start talking.
The brother, mother and sister of Tracy Sissom are looking for justice and the person who killed her. Holding Tracy’s picture, sister Shelly Sullivan said, “We’re pleading. It’s been a long time.”

It was July 24th, 2006, in the middle of the day, when someone killed Blake and Chynna in the Franklin, IN home Chynna shared with Sean, Blake’s father.
Sean Dickus arrived at his Franklin home from work to find his wife and son brutally murdered. The couple had just returned from a mission trip to El Salvador a month ago, just closed on a new home and were still settling in when Chynna Dickus, 26, and Blake Dickus, 10, were found stabbed to death on a Monday night. Esther Westenbarger, 51, went missing on November 12, 2009, and now all her family is looking and hoping for is closure.
