Kristi Cornwell

1-4-11 Update: CLEVELAND, Ga - The brother of Kristi Cornwell, who disappeared while walking near her parents’ home more than a year ago, found his sister’s burned, skeletal remains on New Year’s Day in the north Georgia woods after one of his many hours of diligent searching.

Cornwell, a 38-year-old former probation officer, disappeared in August 2009 in Union County. Her boyfriend, who was talking to her on her cell phone at the time, told police that she said a vehicle appeared to be following her and he overheard a struggle moments later.

The family of a missing Blairsville, Ga., woman — who police say was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her phone — hopes that a $50,000 reward will help turn up clues in her disappearance.

Kristi Cornwell disappeared from Blairsville, GA on Aug. 11, 2009. Her family announced the $50,000 award in a recent statement.

The family said the money will be awarded for information leading to Cornwell’s safe return and/or the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for her disappearance.
