Atlanta Police Officer Alfred M. Johnson may finally get some justice – over 30 years too late.
Johnson was killed when he tried to stop an armed robbery at a grocery store in East Atlanta on Feb. 16, 1980. Two masked men, one armed with a shotgun and one with a handgun, burst into the store that evening and announced a robbery.
The 31-year-old Johnson was moonlighting as a guard and confronted the shotgun wielder in an aisle. They wrestled for control of the gun, and the officer was blasted in the midsection, said Detective Vince Velazquez, who recently reopened the investigation into Johnson’s death. In all the bustle at a popular Gainesville, GA dress shop, there is a feeling of sadness. Wanted posters now greet shoppers. Deputies say the two sketches on the posters are suspects in the murder of the business’ owner David Sanchez.
“For them to talk and find out who they are not just for us, but the tranquility of the town,” said Dina Cantu, the victim’s sister.
Sanchez was well-known for his shop, and the check-cashing business he ran there too. He recently started visiting the chicken processing plants to cash checks for his clients who couldn’t drive. Read the rest of this entry »

What happened to Allyson Romedy? On February 28, 2002, the Rincon, GA mother just disappeared. Family and friends held a vigil, holding out hope for closure.
Sadly, there have been no developments in the case. The family has given up hope Allyson is alive, but they do think someone out there knows what happened the night 43-year-old Allyson tucked her ten-year-old daughter into bed for the last time.
“When her daughter woke up the next morning, her mom was gone,” said Becky Becton, Allyson’s mother. “We haven’t seen her since.” Read the rest of this entry »

Anita Redmon was a Doraville police officer for 25 years. A few months after she retired, she took a much safer job as a gate attendant in Stone Mountain Park.
On July 16th, 2005, an armed robber took Redmon’s life. The mystery: Who killed Anita Redmon?

Shy’kemmia “Shy-Shy” Pate was last seen near her family’s residence on Crumpler Avenue near The Roxy Club in Unadilla, Georgia at approximately 7:00 p.m. on September 4, 1998. Her family planned to attend a football game that evening and her older sister noticed Pate was missing. The authorities were summoned after Pate’s family was unable to locate her later in the night. DUNWOODY, GA — Rusty Sneiderman’s murder was planned. That’s what Dunwoody police are saying about the shooting death outside a pre-school. Sneiderman’s family made passionate plea for help to find out who killed Rusty and why.

ATLANTA — Postal inspectors have released video and photos of two men who robbed two different post offices in metro Atlanta.
The robberies happened on July 2 at the Lakewood post office on Jonesboro Road in southeast Atlanta and most recently on August 2 at the Redan post office in Lithonia.

The family of a missing Blairsville, Ga., woman — who police say was abducted while talking to her boyfriend on her phone — hopes that a $50,000 reward will help turn up clues in her disappearance.
Kristi Cornwell disappeared from Blairsville, GA on Aug. 11, 2009. Her family announced the $50,000 award in a recent statement.
The family said the money will be awarded for information leading to Cornwell’s safe return and/or the arrest and conviction of the people responsible for her disappearance.
