PHOENIX — Federal authorities said that they’re searching for a man who robbed one bank in the Phoenix metropolitan area and tried to rob two others using fake bombs.

A Mesa, AZ neighborhood is on alert after someone has recently been mutilating cats and dumping them in the area.

Twelve cats have gone missing and three have turned up dead in a neighborhood near Alma School and Guadalupe roads.

12-19-12 Update: A man who ran down Nogales Firefighter Sterling Lytle in a Tucson parking lot last summer, injuring him so badly that he died five days later, pleaded guilty this week to negligent homicide.

Jesus Xavier Zepeda, 39, is facing a six-year presumptive prison sentence for the conviction, according to the plea agreement he signed Monday at Pima County Superior Court. A mitigated sentence of four years and an aggravated sentence of eight years are also available under the deal.

TUCSON – A reward of $30,000 is now being offered for information leading to the person responsible for the hit-and-run incident that fatally injured a Nogales firefighter.

The Justice Department unsealed an indictment Monday, July 9, 2012 charging five people in connection with Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s death — a move that drew praise as well as skepticism from lawmakers laser-focused on the case.

This comes after 11 months of investigative efforts into the disappearance of Jhessye, which began with a 911 call to police from Jerice on October 11, 2011,  announcing that she had returned home from an errand to find her youngest daughter missing.

Glendale (Arizona) police held a press conference Oct. 19, 2011 announcing an $11,000 reward for information leading to the return of missing 5-year-old Jahessye Shockley, or bringing to justice those involved with her disappearance. Jahessye has been missing since Oct. 11, 2011 when her mother called police after returning home from an errand and found the child gone. PHOENIX — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for three recent incidents involving flashlight bombs in Arizona.

Three improvised explosive devices inside yellow, plastic 6-volt handheld flashlights exploded when victims found these apparently discarded items and tried the on/off switches to determine if they worked, according to the ATF. Read the rest of this entry »

Update: The 88-CRIME reward for information leading to an arrest in the disappearance of 6-year-old Isabel Celis is now $60,500.

A $10,000 donation from one person on Thursday brought the reward up to its present figure, said Susie Dupnik, executive director of 88-CRIME.

About 10 individuals have contributed to the fund, which totals $59,500 from private donations and $1,000 from 88-CRIME, Dupnik said.

Tucson, AZ police are winding down their search for a 6-year-old girl who has been missing since Saturday, April 21, 2012.

Police Chief Roberto Villasenor said Tuesday that law enforcement expect to wrap up their intensive search for Isabel Mercedes Celis and concentrate on the investigative phase..

Villasenor says more than 20 officers will work throughout the night in the neighborhood surrounding the girl’s home. Read the rest of this entry »
