Philadelphia Police announced a $40,000 reward in the shooting death of a 32-year-old man in Society Hill on July 1, 2012.

Michael Hagan, Jr., 32, of Fishtown, was a graduate of Drexel University who worked at a prestigious firm in Center City as an information technology consultant.

On Saturday, investigators say Hagan went out with two friends and the three became separated near South Street. Early Sunday morning, just before 3:30 a.m., a passerby found Hagan shot to death with his wallet missing on 4th and Lombard in the Society Hill section of the city.

“I think the initial call was they thought there was a drunk on the street. When they rolled Michael over, they saw the gunshot wound and that’s was when police were contacted,” Hagan’s uncle Ed Couture said.

Police believe Hagan was the victim of a robbery gone bad. Both his keys and wallet were missing when he was found.

The $40,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder. Funds for the $40,000 reward are being put up by the city,  the Citizen’s Crime Commission and New Jersey State Police.

“He was one of the good guys,” Couture said.
