Please Help Us

We are Ken and Deanna Grant, the parents of Alexander Grant. Alex died last year in Saratoga Springs, New York, after driving there to visit a friend who was attending college in the area. His death has caused us more sadness than we can describe, and we are asking you to help us find the answers which we know must exist as to how Alex went from a dorm room to a house party and ended up dead some six hours later. So far, all we have learned is that the events of his last night alive cannot be explained by what is currently known.

This is why we are offering a $100,000 reward (see below) to the first person who comes forward with material information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person(s) responsible for causing Alex’s death. We know that Alex encountered many people on the night he died, and we hope and pray that you can help us learn how and why he died.

Alex arrived in Sartoga Springs about 8:30 p.m. on the evening of March 5, 2011. He and his friend drank some alcohol. At about 10:30 p.m., they took a city bus to a party at 146 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, New York. We’ve been told that the party was a “highlighter” party, held in the basement of the house. Alex was at the party for a very short time. Sometime after 11:00 p.m., Alex left the party. He was later observed on surveillance video in two different locations – the Amtrak station and a medical building located at 3 Care Lane, both in Saratoga Springs. We are told that he appeared completely disoriented and incoherent on the surveillance video, some of which was recorded about three hours after Alex was last seen at 146 Church Street.

At 2:11 a.m. on March 6, 2011, Alex left the medical building at 3 Care Lane, still in an apparent state of extreme disorientation. He was never seen alive again, and his body was found three days later in a small creek near Care Lane. He drowned in four feet of water, dead for many hours before we even learned he was missing.

After an extensive investigation of this tragedy, undertaken by the Saratoga Springs Police Department, the Saratoga County District Attorney, the New York State Medical Examiner and others, we are convinced in our hearts, minds and souls, that the key contributing factors leading to Alex’s death have not yet been disclosed. We are not alone in our belief that Alex’s death cannot be explained by the official report of his death, issued in September 2011, which can be read by clicking on this link. Many of those involved in the investigation have also expressed their belief that material facts remain unknown.

We regard it as our solemn obligation to use every resource available to us to obtain a full accounting of Alex’s tragic death, and we implore you to come forward with any information you have.

We thank you for any assistance you can provide to us. Our son died a suffering and senseless death, and nothing that happens now can change that. At this point, all we seek is to know what happened and (if warranted) obtain justice for anyone responsible for causing Alex’s death. We hope to restore a measure of dignity to his legacy, and to help heal those of us who loved him and miss him dearly, and, in a larger sense, find greater comfort so he may rest in peace.

May God Bless You All

Ken and Deanna Grant
