MURFREESBORO, TN – It’s one of the mid-states most puzzling cases. On October 19, 1999, China Videon went to visit a friend and disappeared. Her mother spoke with Channel 4 about her daughter, the case and the search for answers.
“You have your birthdays and holidays … and you know you wonder what she’d be doing now,” Suzanne Videon explained.
She said her daughter China Videon loved animals and children and could have easily been a school teacher or veterinarian. But now Suzanne Videon will never know.
“I think she was murdered by somebody that she knew,” Suzanne Videon said.
Friday marked exactly 13 years since the Rutherford County teen disappeared. Suzanne Videon remembers that horrible day in 1999 like it was yesterday. China Videon stopped by the beauty salon to tell her she was going to see a friend. That was the last time Suzanne Videon saw her little girl.
“I’d leave work early and go out looking for her ’til midnight every night,” Suzanne Videon remembered.
Rutherford County authorities questioned China Videon’s classmates and friends at Riverdale High School. They also talked to her co-workers at Bi-Lo. But there was still no sign of the 16-year-old girl.
Eight months later, China Videon’s car turned up abandoned at an apartment complex off Harding Road in Antioch.
Suzanne Videon is convinced someone knows something. And so is Maj. Bill Sharp with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
“We want the public to come forward,” said Sharp.
Sharp has been working the case since 2006. He wouldn’t go into detail, but admits they have several persons of interest and believe time may work in their favor.
“Over the course of time the people involved in it, that being the suspects get comfortable. They’ll start talking, they’ll start bragging,” Sharp explained.
And when they do, Sharp hopes someone will come forward.
“You may have the piece of information that we’re looking for, that vital piece of information,” Sharp added.
Information that could bring Suzanne Videon and her family much needed closure.
“It’s torn my life apart and my family … I’m hoping that we find her body and the person or persons who get whatever is deserving to them for doing what they did.”
Many of the people detectives questioned 13 years ago were teenagers. They’re adults now, possibly with children of their own. Sharp hopes they’ll be able to sympathize with Suzanne Videon, as a mother, and come forward with whatever they know.
Reward$TV is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.

my prays are with her mom and i pray every day she will be found everyday ! this tears me up cause i meet china at bilos about 1997 when me and my ex husband rawlin lived at haynes manor apt directly behind bilos on memioral before the one on rutherford blvd was build she took our grogerys out one night for us very sweet girl !!!!
I though a lot about this I want to ask a question to the police how can a girl that so well knowen and loved by many people vanish like this into thin air ?? where is she and where she go a 16 year kid does not vanish like this has the cops looked at all the lakes and streams in tenn in Murfreesboro and other countrys real foot lake,even todds persey prist, lake right behind where she work is todd lake if someone was that mean to kill her they would have to get rit of her body I would think !!!!!!!! if I was a police I would be searching every sink hole and every lake in tenn I seach or re search he ex boyfriends boyfriends friends co worker friends of friends anyone in her life at the time of her dis aperance I leave no stone unturn from the day before her disaper maybe until a week !!!!!!!
I look at her friends life ex boyfriends and boyfriend what they into did they drink? was they on drugs what kind of drugs did they give her any drugs did anyone leave the state or country after she dis appeared !!!!!!! did anyone move what happen to her ex boyfriend and her was he jellious was anyone stocking her was anyone a drug pusher did anyone threation her was she getting any werid calls at home did anyone send her any threating mail threation her at school
