BURLINGTON, N.C. — Gov. Perdue has issued a proclamation offering a reward for information relating to the disappearance of a missing Burlington woman.

On Friday, Gov. Perdue issued a proclamation offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of Debra Diane Sellars.

The governor’s office said, “physical evidence and information provided by the Burlington Police Department indicates that Sellars was likely murdered.”

A desperate search for her hasn’t turned up any major clues on where she went or what’s become of her.

Debra Dianne Sellars left her Burlington home on April 20, 2012 and told her 25-year-old son she’d be back with the family van so he could drive to work the next morning.

That was the last anyone has reported hearing from her. She hasn’t called home and police said that her cellphone hasn’t been used at all since her disappearance, the Burlington Times-News reported

The Ford Windstar van the 43-year-old drove was found on April 21 blocking the entrance to someone’s driveway. The night before, her van was left unattended in a gravel parking lot and someone called police to report that it appeared suspicious.

On April 24, she was officially reported missing to police after she didn’t show up for her job at Graham Dyeing and Finishing in the central part of the state.

Sellars’ family suspects that her ex-boyfriend has something to do with her disappearance, according to broadcaster WGHP. There’s a pending assault charge against him from an alleged attack on Sellars last year, but police said they don’t consider him a person of interest.

Sellars is 5-foot-8-inches tall with what police call an “average build.” When she left, she might have been wearing an ankle-length sundress and flip flops.

She has a 25-year-old son and a 16-year-old daughter,
