A 55 year old man has been missing from the Juniper Canyon area since March 28, 2012.
The Crook County, Oregon Sheriff’s Office is still conducting a missing person investigation for Robert Alan Bucknell. The man was last heard from on March 28, 2012. He had an appointment on March 28, but didn’t show, and last talked to his mother on March 20.
His family is now offering a $3,000 reward in hopes of finding him. The family’s reward flyer seeks “information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible” for Bucknell’s disappearance.
His vehicle, a 1989 Tan Jeep Cherokee, has been found on private property in the Juniper Canyon area near Art’s Place, but there was no sign of Bucknell.
“We don’t have anybody that we know of that he has had contact with,” said Crook County Undersheriff John Gautney. “We don’t know how his truck ended up where it ended up at, and we don’t know if he left from his truck, or if he left from his house. We have nobody that has seen him.”
According to the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was impounded for further investigation. Family members have been contacted by investigators in an attempt to determine what may have happened to Bucknell.
Crook County Undersheriff John Gautney said that they sent out a Crook County Search and Rescue dog team to search the area where Bucknell’s Cherokee had been found. They were unsuccessful in locating him.
“There was too much swirling wind, so you couldn’t tell where it (the scent) was coming from, and plus it started pouring down rain.”
Later they ground-searched the valley around Adventure Park with ground searchers and horseback searchers, but turned up no leads. On Wednesday, they searched the area on the southwest side of Juniper Canyon Road between Adventure Park and Art’s Place, but turned up nothing. The Crook County Search and Rescue used a grid search technique.
Local property owners have been very cooperative in allowing search teams onto private property to search for clues that might lead them to Bucknell’s location.
According to Gautney, foul play is not suspected at this time. However, the Sheriff’s office is conducting this investigation as a missing person and examining all possibilities.
