JACKSON COUNTY, AL – A mother and daughter have been missing for more than three years.
With community tips at a standstill, Governor Riley is now offering a reward.
This is the first reward offered in the Kim Whitton and Haleigh Culwell search.
Governor Riley hopes the $10,000 reward will convince someone to come forward with information in this case.
Even though years have past, they’re not giving up.
Kim Whitton and her 11-year-old daughter Haleigh Culwell have been missing for over three years now.
A home video captured the last images of the mother and daughter that many friends have still-framed in their mind.
June 21st 2007, Whitton was last seen leaving her work in Scottsboro.
More than 75 law enforcement officers searched their home and 40 acres of property looking for clues, but they found nothing.
Kim’s husband, Barry Whitton, is a suspect in their disappearance, but investigators have not filed charges.
FBI agents have said Whitton is also a suspect in the disappearance of his first wife, who was found beaten to death in a shallow grave near the DeKalb-Jackson county line more than 10 years ago.
As time passed on, friends and family held candlelight vigils along with balloons releases and blood drives in hopes to bring Kim and Haleigh back home.
Amongst it all, there were no breaks or developments in the case, until now.
“Wt this point we have not been able to obtain or develop any further information on their disappearance. We’re hoping that the governor offering this reward that somebody, somewhere will come forward, ” said Jackson County Sheriff Dennis Miller.
Sheriff Miller says time is not on their side, so this reward will hopefully spark interest.
“All that we could ask is if anyone knows anything regardless of how minor they think it maybe to contact this office and maybe we can get enough to come forward,” said Sheriff Miller.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office at 256-574-2610. You can remain anonymous.
