Karim Khamarko, 64, of Southfield, was gunned down while working alone Friday night Nov 26, 2010, at his store on Hilton Road in Ferndale, MI.
“A person came in and shot two times. Cash was taken, but certainly not enough to justify something like this,” Ferndale Police Detective Lt. William Wilson said.
Wilson said the incident occurred between 8:35 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. Friday. Police believe the assailant fled the scene on foot. Karim died later at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.
Police have no suspects or descriptions, though Wilson said investigators pulled “physical evidence” from the scene, as well as videotapes from security cameras.
Karim had been a business owner in Ferndale for nearly 15 years, first owning a video store on Woodward Heights for 10 years. He eventually moved the business to Hilton before closing it and reopening as Dollar Club Plus.
