STATESBORO, GA – Relatives of Akeila Martin, who was killed outside a Statesboro nightclub, pled for anyone with information to come forward.

“I just want whoever did this to come forward, or somebody who saw who did,” stated Barbara Martin Hightower, mother of Akeila Martin. “I know you’re afraid, but just come forward and tell these people (police) what they need about what went down.”

According to Statesboro Police, Martin was in the parking lot of The Platinum Lounge when it closed around 2:30 a.m. Aug. 19, 2012. With hundreds of people emptying the club into the parking lot, a shooter or shooters opened fire and struck Martin and the crowd scattered. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police initially offered a $2,500 reward for information. Now, The Platinum Lounge’s owner has doubled that reward to $5,000.
