7-31-12 Update: NEW HAVEN — The son of Ibrahim Ghazal flashed his middle finger and shouted, “You’re going to hell!” as Frankie Resto was escorted into Courtroom 6A in New Haven Superior Court Tuesday morning.

Eyad Ghazal was almost led out of the room by marshals but quieted down to console his sobbing mother, Sudqieh Ghazal, who broke down when she laid eyes on the man accused of killing her husband.

Resto, 36, faced Judge Roland Fasano to answer charges of murder, armed robbery and weapons violations in connection with Ibrahim Ghazal’s death at the EZ Mart convenience store and gas station on East Main Street in Meriden in June.

MERIDEN, CT – Many in Meriden are still stunned by the violent killing of a popular store clerk on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2012.

Relatives of Ibrahim Ghazal said they are devastated by the senseless crime. They told CrimePAY$,  that he bought the gas station just a few weeks ago.

“I would love to catch you and kill you myself!” said Mary Morgan, of the killer. “I really hope they find him.”

Some strong words from Morgan, a broken-hearted patron of Ghazal, 70.

Ghazal was the owner of the EZ Mart Gas Station on East Main Street who Meriden police said was shot and killed by a man in a ruthless robbery.

Police said a man entered the store brandishing a handgun and demanded money early Wednesday morning. Ghazal complied with the killer’s demands and handed over the cash but Ghazal was then shot in the chest before the suspect ran out of the store.

“I don’t understand,” said John Dudzik, of Meriden. “He was a very nice man. Somebody robs you, gives him the money, get out. You don’t kill him!”

On Thursday, an anonymous business owner offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the man who killed Ghazal.

Police said the reward will be given to the person who provides the most significant, relevant input about the killer and his whereabouts.
