A former Miss Iceland who met Boston crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger and his girl friend in California was paid a $2 million reward for the tip that led to Bulger’s arrest in June, 2011, the Boston Globe said.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation paid the reward money to Anna Bjornsdottir, a one-time model and Miss Iceland 1974 who had gotten to know Bulger’s girl friend Catherine Greig after the two women both took a shared interest in a local stray cat while the fugitive couple hid out in Santa Monica. SAUGUS — A Marine veteran from Boston is offering a $5,000, “no questions asked” reward for anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest in the shooting death of 39-year-old Shawn Clark of Saugus.

“I’m trying to get some more of my fellow Marines involved in it so the money is probably going to go up,” said Sly Egidio, owner of Beantown Collectibles in Boston. “We’ve had it. Update August 3, 2012 – A Florida man who killed his girlfriend was questioned Thursday about the kidnapping and murder of 16-year-old lifeguard Molly Bish in Warren in 2000, a spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said today.

Rodney Stanger lived in Massachusetts for several years prior to Bish’s murder and moved to Florida after the teen disappeared from Comins Pond after being dropped off there by her mother, Magi, on June 27, 2000. Read the rest of this entry »

The city, police department and Hampden County (Mass) District Attorney’s office are joining together to beef up a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer of Amanda L. Plasse.

The FBI Boston Division’s Violent Crimes Task Force, along with the Seekonk Police Department (in Massachusetts) and Cranston, Warwick, and North Providence Police Departments (in Rhode Island), are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the “Bearded Bandit,” a serial bank robber. The Bearded Bandit is alleged to be responsible for one bank robbery in Massachusetts and three bank robberies in Rhode Island since February 2012. Mass. State Sen. Stephen Brewer, D-Barre, said he takes the disappearance and murder of 10-year-old Holly Pirrainen personally.

The 10-year-old Grafton girl disappeared Aug. 5, 1993 in Sturbridge. Her remains were found Oct. 23 in Brimfield. That area falls in his district.

BELCHERTOWN, MA – It’s been almost two years since Michael R. “Mickey” Brougham disappeared and his family is hoping that an increase to the reward money being offered for information will lead to a break in the case.

Cindy Brown, Brougham’s oldest sister, said the family had been talking about increasing the reward for some time, and decided to publicize it this week. They are now offering $50,000 for tips about his disappearance, to bring him home, she said. Read the rest of this entry »
