Bill Douglas

On February 11, 2004, family members of William LeRoy Douglas, Sr., 63, reported to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office in Osceola that Mr. Douglas had disappeared from his rural Woodburn, Iowa residence.

Douglas was last seen at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, at his residence in the vicinity of the 3000 block of Pacific Street. (Some reports provide the time as 1:30 p.m.)

He may have been dressed in black “Carhartt” bib overalls, “Wrangler” jeans, a light green jacket and black boots. Read the rest of this entry »

Corey Poffenberger Reward

$25,000 Reward

Robert “Corey” Poffenberger was shot and killed early Friday morning October 24, 2003, in the driveway of his 2211 East 37th St. home in Des Moines, Iowa. His family is hoping a new reward with help solve the cold case.

The 30-year-old Mediacom employee had been shot several times in the chest, and was found outside the open door of his vehicle, the car still idling.

Poffenberger’s wallet was left untouched, and officials found nothing missing from his home.

“The first couple of days, we didn’t know what was going on. We had no idea who killed him what it was about, anything,” says next door neighbor Rick Jarrett.

West Des Moines police call the shooting death of a real estate agent on Friday, April 8, 2011 one of their top priorities.
Ashley Okland, 27, was found shot inside the model unit of a new townhome complex. Police said no one has been arrested in connection with the case.
West Des Moines Lt. Jim Barrett said the shooting happened at the Stone Creek Villas. A woman who works for the builder of the development found Okland shot inside the model unit and called 911 at 2:09 p.m., police said. Read the rest of this entry »

Late on Sunday, September 24, 1995, Susan Kersten’s body was found in a car that had been set on fire in a field south of the Regency Trailer Court in rural Iowa City, where she lived.
