MURDER OF DR. ESFANDIAR KADIVAR
On July 5, 2006, 64-year-old retired plastic surgeon Esfandiar “Steve” Kadivar was found shot to death at his remote, 200-acre, desert ranch in the Antelope Valley community of Lancaster. Evidence suggested Dr. Kadivar was feeding livestock on the ranch at the time of his murder.
Dr. Kadivar bought his ranch, where he grew pistachio nuts, alfalfa and raised livestock, because it reminded him of his native Iran.
Dr. Kadivar was a well-respected civic leader, who served the communities of the Antelope Valley for over 30 years. Before he retired, Dr. Kadivar was the resident plastic surgeon at the Antelope Valley Hospital’s Emergency Room.
Friends, colleagues and former patients, all of whom were stunned by news of Dr. Kadivar’s murder, have described him as a kind, generous man and have praised both his abilities as a doctor, as well as his qualities as a friend.
During the course of their murder investigation, Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau have discovered that a theft occurred at Doctor Kadivar’s ranch at/or near the time of his murder.
A safe was discovered stolen which contained a variety of valuables, including rare and semi-rare Iranian gold coins. They are described as several SHAH MOHAMMAD REZA PAHLAVI CORONATION MEMORIAL GOLD COINS with a DIAMETER SIZE=38.5mm, which is slightly larger than a U.S. Half Dollar and numerous ONE PAHLAVI GOLD COINS with a DIAMETER SIZE=23mm, which is the approximate size of U.S. Quarter.
In addition to the safe and it’s contents, Investigators discovered that TWO BROWNING HUNTING RIFLES were missing. Both rifles had SCOPES AND CUSTOM “BLOND WOOD” STOCKS. One is a .30-.06 CALIBER and the other is a .300 WINCHESTER MAGNUM CALIBER

.
A combined reward of $50,000 is being offered by Los Angeles County Supervisor, Michael D. Antonovich, and the Kadivar Family for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the murder of Dr. Esfandiar “Steve” Kadivar at his ranch in Lancaster.
In an effort to elicit the public’s assistance, Investigators have provided photographs and descriptions of several of the items believed stolen at the time of Doctor Kadivar’s murder.
