Reginald Riley wasn’t a troublemaker. The son of a Chicago cop wasn’t a fighter. The college graduate didn’t sell drugs and was never in a gang, family members say.
Yet Riley and friend Michael Chatman, both 22, were killed Aug. 1, 2010 when shooters in a passing SUV riddled a vehicle and home with bullets in the 8400 block of South Euclid.
Ten months after the grisly murders, veteran Chicago Police Officer Wanda Slater has turned her grief into determination to find the shooters. Both Slater’s and Chatman’s families are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to arrests and convictions. The reward includes a $5,000 donation from the Rev. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church, family members said Saturday. Read the rest of this entry »

Police are still on the hunt for a gunman who opened fire on a car in Northwest Jacksonville (FL) on Tuesday night, August 24, 2010 killing a man as he left Grant Park with two young girls, and leaving them with non-fatal gunshot wounds.
Police have not released any new information or identified the victims, but family members said that the man who was the apparent target of the attack was 28-year-old Johnny Hoover, known as J.R.
Police said a car pulled up beside Hoover’s when he was stopped at a red light at the corner of the 20th Street Expressway and Division Street — one block from the park. Several shots were fired into the driver’s side of the car, probably from a rifle, detectives said. Read the rest of this entry »
