JACKSON, Miss. — The FBI in Jackson announced that up to $50,000 is now available for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the men they called the “Duct Tape Bandits.”
The FBI has put up a $25,000 reward, while another $25,000 will come from the banks that were robbed.
Daniel McMullen, special agent in charge of the FBI in Mississippi, said the duo has been deemed the “Duct Tape Bandits” because they have used duct tape to tie up bank employees in all four of their robberies.
“This was planned. These robberies were planned. We believe a bank robbery crew is responsible — well planned and well executed,” McMullen said.
The FBI said that over a four year time period, two men tied up bank employees with duct tape and stole thousands in cash from at least four Mississippi banks. The first robbery was reported at a Regions Bank in Kosciusko in February 2006, the FBI said.
The other three took place in Jackson at the Omni Bank on Old Canton Road in July 2009, the Trustmark Bank on Old Canton Road in May, and most recently, Sept. 9 at the Omni Bank on County Line Road, McMullen said.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call the FBI at 601-948-5000.
