 Dalton Mesarchik
Almost nine heart-wrenching years have passed since the unthinkable occurred to a sweet-faced boy in small-town America. While waiting for a church van, 7-year-old Dalton Mesarchik vanished from outside their Streator, IL home. The next day, he was found lifeless in a nearby river, his head bashed in with a sledgehammer.
The brutal, shocking slaying remains unsolved.
Dalton was a smiling, active lad with long hair, bright eyes and a love for building plastic models of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He often played carefree with friends outside his home: a weathered, two-story house in the center of Streator, a blue-collar town of 14,000 residents.
In the spring of 2003, Dalton lived with mother Michele Mesarchik and father George Scott. Though they had divorced two years earlier, they shared the dwelling during a spate of unemployment. Also living there were three siblings of Dalton’s: a 13-year-old sister, a 12-year-old sister and an infant brother. Read the rest of this entry »
